Tim McGraw Serenades Young Fan at Atlanta Concert

Country music superstar Tim McGraw puts on a really big show, but it was an intimate one-on-one serenade to an enchanted young girl that brought the packed house down at Aaron’s Amphitheater in Atlanta Sunday night.
While performing "You Are So Beautiful" for wife Faith and his three daughters, he spotted the enraptured fan in the front of the crowd, mouthing the words to the classic love song, and invited her to join him on stage.
As cameras captured the moment, they sat side by side and finished the tune together. After sharing a big hug, the singer, who clearly knows the way to a woman’s heart, signed his guitar and presented it to the girl – much to the delight of the entire audience.

'Country Music Lends Down a Hand' event raises funds, awareness

JACKSON, Tenn.- The Casey Jones Village Amphitheatre was rocking Wednesday as country music lends down a hand.
It was a fundraiser for the Down Syndrome Association of West Tennessee as hundreds of supporters came out.
Part of the proceeds will go towards a summer camp that organizers said all of the kids enjoy.
"They go every day and they learn about social skills, they do crafts, of course they sing and dance, they interact with each other," said Hope Graves event coordinator.
Some of the night's performers included Ash Bowers Eric Lee Beddingfield and Brandon Lay.

Rockin’ for Downs charity concert at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Next Tuesday, May 20, there will be a Rockin’ for Downs charity concert to raise awareness for Down syndrome at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland. One hundred percent of all proceeds will be donated to The Up Side of Downs organization.
We realize that is a long way from Vegas and our usual Around Town beat, but we have a special interest in this concert as it is happening due to the hard work and dedication of our great-niece Maisie Hanley, a sophomore at Shaker Heights High School.
Things have changed since we were a sophomore. Back then a simple bake sale or car wash would have sufficed. However, Maisie is participating in the International Baccalaureate program at the school and is one of a select number of students asked to complete a project combining academic success with issues in the community and their own personal passion. That requires more than a few homemade cookies.
And so, Maisie decided to organize this concert. She persuaded the Rock Hall to donate their venue, scoured the surrounding area for suitable family-friendly entertainment, asking them to perform free of charge, and put together a publicity campaign. There will also be a silent auction. (To say we are proud of her is an understatement. Our buttons are busting!)

Students tap ‘Bieber Fever’ for fundraiser: Concert-ticket raffle will benefit Special Olympics

(THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – March 22, 2013) California Lutheran University students are raffling off VIP tickets for a Justin Bieber concert to raise money for Special Olympics Ventura County.

Two winners will be randomly selected and each will receive a pair of VIP box seat tickets for Bieber’s June 24 concert at the Staples Center. Raffle tickets are $10.

The Thousand Oaks-based Krishak Foundation, which was started by 15-year-old La Reina High School student Divya Manthena, donated the tickets to Special Olympics Ventura County. Students in Jean Kelso Sandlin’s Advanced Public Relations class met with Manthena and are promoting the raffle as part of a service-learning project this semester.

Raffle entry forms are available on the Special Olympics website at sosc.org/biebervip. Tickets can also be purchased at various “Bieber Storm” sites at Ventura County businesses. All entries must be received or postmarked by May 15.

The next “Bieber Storm” event is scheduled to take place during the Conejo Valley Days from May 2 – 3 at Conejo Creek Park in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Additional events will be announced via social media platforms including Twitter and Instagram at @SO_BieberVIP, and on the group’s Facebook page, Raffle for Justin Bieber Tickets.

With a goal to raise $20,000, the class plans to sell 2,000 tickets through their hyper-local social media campaign.

Special Olympics provides physical fitness and athletic competitions, social interaction, community involvement and empowerment to people with intellectual disabilities. Within Ventura County, the organization offers 600 athletes training and competition opportunities in 10 year-round sports at more than 20 training sites.

Social media effort to help a Justin Bieber fan with a dream

Like millions of other kids, Samantha Basile idolizes teen singing sensation Justin Bieber.

With posters plastered on the walls of her bedroom in her family's Phoenix area home, and a big box of Bieber knickknacks including hats, T-shirts, and concert DVD's, it's clear Basile has "Bieber Fever."

But unlike most Bieber fans, the 16 year-old senior at Pinnacle High School also has Down syndrome. And each and every day when Samantha gets home from school she sings and dances along to her favorite Justin Bieber songs.

12 News staffers learned about a video that Samantha and her sister, 15 year-old Kasey Basile, posted on YouTube.

Kasey and her friends posted a 3 1/2-minute video hoping to catch the superstar's attention, and let him know that Samantha, who has never even been to a Justin Bieber concert, is a devoted fan.

"She said if she saw him she would pass out", Kasey explained.

The girls' mom, Linda Calleja, teared up while explaining how important this is to her daughter. Calleja says that Samantha is selfless, and never asks for anything unless it's something with a logo or picture of her favorite superstar.

In the video the girls created, Samantha holds up note cards for Bieber to read, and describes her two wishes, to be a normal teenager and to meet Justin Bieber.

Bieber's North American Tour rolls into Glendale's Jobing.com Arena on Saturday, Sept. 29. The family is hoping that Sam's second wish can come true.
